Electric battery

In Australia and New zealand, Volvo electric trucks have covered nearly 3 million kilometers. Meeting the needs of many industries – all the way from construction to urban distribution and waste management. Over the years, we’ve also helped customers optimise the financing, operation, charging, and servicing of electric trucks for a smooth transition.

Diesel and HVO

Our diesel engines are the result of decades of development to optimise fuel efficiency and lower costs – while strengthening performance and productivity with added power and torque. You also get the flexibility to run on HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) to move further toward zero emissions. These fuels are either pure e.g. HVO100 or a blend e.g. HVO100 can be mixed with conventional diesel at any ratio.

Up to 90% with HVO

High/good energy density, flexibility to change to renewable fuels. Pathway toward emission reduction in existing fleet

Considerations: 
Tailpipe CO₂ and NOx emissions, access to renewable fuels


Hydrogen

For future consideration. It is already clear that hydrogen fuel cells and combustion engines have the potential to be an essential element for the future of transportation. As part of Volvo’s future fuels map, we are developing and testing our hydrogen-powered trucks in the real world.
