What is Iron Women Australia?

Iron Women Australia is a comprehensive training program designed to support women with no prior transport experience in becoming job-ready heavy vehicle operators. The initiative empowers female participants to enter the transport industry with confidence and the necessary qualifications.

Upon successful completion of the 12-month program, graduates are awarded the Certificate III in Driving Operations (TLI31222).

Training Structure

The program begins with two weeks of face-to-face classroom training followed by one week of on-road training. These initial three weeks cover the first two modules of the course.

By the end of this stage, students will have earned their Heavy Rigid (HR) licence, allowing them to begin working in the industry and gaining practical experience.

Path to Certification

After completing 12 months of on-the-job experience as a Heavy Rigid driver, students return to undertake additional on-road and skills training. This final phase of the program culminates in the completion of the certificate course and the attainment of a Heavy Combination (HC) licence. The program exceeds standard licensing criteria and delivers a nationally recognised Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) qualification. It is also officially recognised as the Australian Heavy Vehicle Driver traineeship.

Further details regarding Iron Women program will be shared shortly
