Volvo Trucks Australia and Foodbank NSW & ACT celebrate a year of partnership

The first Foodbank NSW & ACT prime mover and trailer in the country has been hard at work during its first 12 months in operation, supporting regional communities, responding to natural disasters and delivering vital food relief across NSW and the ACT.

Since joining the Foodbank NSW & ACT fleet in 2025, the Volvo FH ISave prime mover and Vawdrey refrigerated trailer have travelled nearly 15,000 kilometres, collecting and delivering food, supporting Fresh Food Pop-ups and emergency relief operations, while transporting nutritious fresh produce to people doing it tough.

At a time when demand for food relief has increased by 40%, Volvo Trucks Australia is proud to support Foodbank NSW & ACT's mission to get more food to more people, more efficiently. The dedicated truck and trailer have increased their capacity to collect and distribute food, reduce reliance on outsourced freight and extend its reach across regional and remote communities.

Together, Volvo Trucks Australia and Foodbank NSW & ACT have helped collect and deliver more than 1,000 tonnes of food and fresh produce, distributing more than 2.1 million meals through a network of more than 700 Community Partners and transporting fresh fruit and vegetables as part of their school breakfast programs, helping ensure students can have the best start to their day.

With one in three households across NSW and the ACT experiencing food insecurity, this partnership demonstrates the power of working together to support families, strengthen communities and ensure good food reaches the people who need it most.

"It's fantastic to see the work Foodbank NSW & ACT carries out every day," says Tom Chapman, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Volvo Trucks Australia. "Food insecurity has far-reaching impacts across our communities, and knowing this combination is helping Foodbank deliver nutritious food to families and reach communities in need makes us incredibly proud."

"Over the past 12 months, Volvo Trucks Australia has been a valued partner in our fight against hunger, helping us strengthen our transport and logistics network and reach more people in need’ says Samantha Prescott, CEO Foodbank NSW & ACT. “The prime mover has increased our capacity to deliver fresh food across NSW and the ACT at a time when demand for food relief remains at record levels."
