Volvo Trucks and Fraser Fire and Rescue to bolster NT Fire and Rescue Service frontline response in major boost for Territory communities

The Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service unveiled its latest fire appliance at AFAC in Melbourne, the industry’s premier event. Built on a Volvo cab chassis, the vehicle is part of the service’s ongoing fleet replacement program, designed to strengthen emergency response capability and better protect communities across the Territory. The investment highlights the growing importance of firefighter safety, operational readiness and resilience as the NT faces increasing natural disaster risks.

The decision reflects the need for safer, modern, dependable fire response vehicles capable of supporting crews operating in some of Australia’s most challenging conditions. With firefighter safety at the forefront, the move highlights confidence in Volvo’s global reputation for safety, reliability and performance.

Cameron Bettany, Vice President Governmental Sales, VGA, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting emergency services with trusted capability.

“We are proud to support the Northern Territory Fire Service with vehicles designed to perform in demanding environments. Volvo’s reputation is built on safety, reliability and durability, and we are honored to contribute to the protection of NT communities and the firefighters who serve them.”

Martin Simpson, General Manager of Fraser Fire and Rescue, said the announcement builds on a long-standing relationship with NT Fire and Rescue Service and highlights the role of advanced vehicle design in supporting frontline operations.

“Fraser Fire and Rescue have a long and proud relationship supporting NT Fire and Rescue Service and its operations with state-of-the-art, latest generation firefighting vehicles. We are pleased to continue that support through this next step, helping ensure crews have the capability they need to respond effectively.”

Mr Simpson also said Fraser Fire and Rescue is investing in future capability to meet the evolving needs of fire services.

“We are continuing to invest in new production technologies and equipment to ensure we are well positioned to deliver for fire services into the future. Our focus is on providing high-quality, purpose-built vehicles that meet the demands of modern emergency response.”

Andrew Warton, Commissioner of Northern Territory Fire and Emergency Services, said the investment would strengthen the Territory’s ability to respond to emergencies while supporting the safety of frontline personnel.

“This investment strengthens the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service’s ability to protect communities across the Territory, now and into the future.”

“Modern, dependable appliances are critical to maintaining operational readiness and ensuring our firefighters can respond safely and effectively to increasingly complex and more frequent emergencies.”

“Through our partnership with Fraser Fire and Rescue and Volvo, we are delivering the capability our crews need to protect life, property, and the environment across urban, regional and remote communities.”

The new vehicle will support the NT Fire and Rescue Service in delivering safer, more versatile emergency responses.
