Everyone needs a hero, and the Volvo FH16 XXL on show at this year’s Brisbane Truck Show does not fail to disappoint. Featuring Volvo’s recently launched, 17-Litre Euro 6 engine platform that provides a class leading 780hp of power and a stump pulling 3800Nm of torque.
The horsepower hero allows long haul operators to gear for efficiency while heavy haulers can tackle big weights with ease.
Another new face amongst the Volvo trucks Australia lineup is the Volvo FH Aero, a streamlined model designed to cut through the air, reducing drag and saving fuel. The Aero is available with a range of drivelines spanning a range of Euro 6 engines from the fuel miser 500hp D13TC and 13 litre 540 to the range topping D17 at power ratings of 600 and 700hp.
Volvo Trucks currently leads the Australian heavy duty battery electric market. The Volvo FMX Electric on display at BTS ‘25 features 540kWh of power from four battery packs with a range of up to 300km. Three electric motors provide 660hp which put power to the ground via a new generation I-Shift automated transmission. The FMX is Volvo’s severe duty model with extra ground clearance for off-road operations as well as additional shielding and reinforcement.
Aboard the FMX Electric is the recently launched Volvo L25 electric wheel loader, the loader is equipped with a 40kWh battery that provides a run time of up to 8 hours. The baby articulated loader has a general-purpose safe working load of up to 1600kg at full turn and is available in 4500kg and 5400kg variants.
There is no single solution to clean and efficient transport solutions, however Volvo Trucks Australia is determined to move the world we want to live in.
