The D13TC is available with a 500 hp output. The torque level however, are higher than in other D13 engines. The 500 hp moves into D16 territory with 2800 Nm at the same low revs.
This is enabled through Turbo Compound technology, which utilises an extra turbine after the turbocharger to reuse excess energy from the exhausts. This energy is converted to torque directly on the crankshaft – producing a powerful and extremely fuel-efficient engine.
